Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Purchase and seeds

Are Moderia seeds legal and certified?
Yes. We sell only certified seed of industrial hemp varieties listed in the EU Common Catalogue of Varieties. Every batch carries an official label. Moderia is entered in the KOWR register under number MKW/WPIS/PS/KI/2022/00002 and holds approval no. 26/02/6734 from the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship Inspector of Plant Health and Seed Inspection in Kielce to trade certified seed.

Which varieties do you offer?
Dioecious varieties – above all Finola, the best variety for seed production, as well as Carmagnola, Tisza and Kompolti.
Monoecious varieties – e.g. Futura 75, Felina 32, Fedora 17, Santhica 27 and Santhica 70.
Feminized varieties (sold per seed) – Morning Glory, Western Cherry, Arizona Dream, Enectaliana, Enectarol and Seraly25.
All varieties are listed in Seeds for sowing.

What is the difference between monoecious and dioecious varieties?
In monoecious varieties male and female flowers grow on the same plant and ripen more evenly. Dioecious varieties have separate male and female plants. For seed production the best choice is the dioecious Finola – the shortest variety on the market, it yields well and has very fine fibre, so it is easy to harvest with any combine, even an old one. Monoecious varieties such as Futura 75, Felina 32 or Fedora 17 are an alternative for seed production. Other dioecious varieties are usually taller and give plenty of straw and fibre.

Which varieties should I choose for CBG production?
The main varieties in which CBG is the dominant cannabinoid are the monoecious SANTHICA 27 and SANTHICA 70; Enectarol and Seraly25 also belong to this group. You will find them all in the CBG seeds category.

What package sizes do you sell?
Seeds are available in 100 g, 250 g, 500 g, 1 kg, 5 kg and 25 kg packs. Feminized seeds are sold individually (per seed). For larger quantities use the wholesale order form or call +48 665 666 346.

Do you sell wholesale and offer contract farming?
Yes. We sell both retail and wholesale. If you plan a larger area, fill in the contract form with the planned number of hectares and we will prepare an offer.

Delivery and payment

How fast do you ship and what does delivery cost?
Items in stock are usually shipped within 24 hours, mainly with InPost – by InPost courier (PLN 20) or to an InPost Paczkomat parcel locker (PLN 25). Delivery to other pick-up points (DHL, DPD, Poczta, UPS, Orlen Paczka) is also available for PLN 25.

How can I pay?
By bank transfer.

Legal cultivation

Do I need a permit to grow industrial hemp in Poland?
Yes. Before sowing you must apply for an entry in the register of industrial hemp producers kept by KOWR, to the director of the relevant KOWR regional branch. The application includes a copy of the certified seed invoice, a copy of the seed label, proof of the PLN 30 stamp duty and, for leased land, the landowner’s consent. The area must be stated to within 5%. See our step-by-step KOWR guide.

What is the permitted THC content?
Industrial hemp may contain no more than 0.3% THC in the dry matter of flowering or fruiting tops, which is why only certified EU-catalogue varieties are sown.

Why should I keep the labels from the seed bags?
The original official labels are required for the KOWR register entry and for hemp subsidy applications at ARiMR. Missing labels can lead to refusal of payments even if the crop itself is compliant. Keep them and check the ARiMR deadline for submitting them.

Cultivation

How much seed per hectare?
It depends on the purpose: for seed 10–15 kg/ha (rows about 50 cm apart), for biomass or cellulose 30–40 kg/ha (rows 7.5–15 cm), for fibre 60–70 kg/ha (rows 7.5–15 cm). Sow at a depth of 3–4 cm.

When should hemp be sown?
After spring cereals, no later than the first half of May, once the soil has warmed to 8–10°C. Hemp does best on deep, permeable soils with pH 7.0–7.6 and no standing water.

When is hemp harvested?
Usually in August and September. Fibre crops are harvested earlier than seed crops.

Food products

Which hemp food products do you offer?
Hemp oil, hemp protein, hemp flour, hemp cake and hulled and unhulled hemp seeds, all in the Seeds for consumption category.
