KOMPOLTI is a Hungarian variety grown throughout Europe. It is the most widespread Hungarian variety. It is the result of selection carried out for over 20 years by the skilled geneticist Prof. Bócsa. It was created from a combination of Chinese, Hungarian and probably Italian materials, characterized by a high level of vigour and broad adaptability to different environments. It is genetics developed for biomass production, but it also produces satisfactory quantities of seeds and flowers. Kompolti is the most famous genetics used to create Cannabis Light varieties.
The characteristics of this variety faithfully reflect its membership of the pure sativa subspecies: large size and abundant flowering.
The scent of the flowers is fresh and balsamic, with slightly citrusy lemon notes.
The oldest dioecious variety registered in Europe, whose properties meet the latest cultivation requirements. It has fine, light leaves and a stem that is moderately ribbed. The vegetation period in Hungary is 110-115 days from germination when grown for fiber. The variety grown for seed reaches maturity in 140-160 days. Seed yield is fairly low.
It is characterized by high stem productivity (11-12 t/ha) and high fiber content (31-35%). The fiber is the highest quality in Europe. Fiber fineness and strength are average. THC content is very low: 0.1-0.15%.
Cultivation suggestions: The most suitable soils for this variety are alluvial soils and chernozems. Yields can be increased with nitrogen fertilizers, but overdosing worsens quality. High yields and good fiber quality can be achieved through appropriate plant density per m2, sowing 3.5-4 million viable seeds/ha.
